What is Yoga Therapy?

Yoga therapy is the integration and adaptation of yogic (derived from yoga) principles and practices to the western medical model. At ROOT, we share mind body tools proven to promote whole person healing for chronic physical, mental, and emotional conditions.

How is Yoga Therapy Different?

Yoga Therapy differs from what we call “fit yoga” in our goals and approach.

Our Practices are Based on Three Pillars

Personalized Experience

Yoga therapy practices are designed specifically for you, the individual, to manage and/or improve symptoms, restore balance, and enhance quality of life. Above all, we work passionately to empower people at any stage of life, to take control of their health.

Collaboration

Yoga therapy is as much a collaborative process as it is an individual one. It is important that a safe space is held for honesty and trust to be established. We’ll get to know you and partner to create a program that is right for you.

Consistency

Being that this is your journey; individual mindfulness of these practices is encouraged to take with you “off the mat” to aid progress. I strongly believe that through self-awareness we can develop a deeper understanding of our body’s healing system and learn to effectively move through the inevitable challenges of life.

At ROOT, we educate you on healing through habit change and invite you to become your own healer on this unique journey.

“Yoga, an ancient but perfect science, deals with the evolution of humanity. This evolution includes all aspects of one’s being, from bodily health to self-realization. Yoga means union- the union of body with consciousness and consciousness with the soul. Yoga cultivates the ways of maintaining a balanced attitude in day-to-day life and endows skill in the performance of one’s actions.”

- B.K.S. Iyengar
